Food security a focus at recent AGRA forum
Food security was a major focus of the recent Africa Green Revolution Alliance (AGRA) forum which Mellissa Wood and new AIFSC Liaison Officer Liz Ogutu attended. The focus of the forum, said chairman of AGRA Kofi Annan, is to push on past a tipping point in scaling up the transformation of African agriculture.
“In the past, African governments did not focus on agriculture, but today it presents an opportunity to feed, employ and create global food security,” he said, adding that the goal is to support African smallholders’ transition from subsistence farming to running their farms as businesses, producing a surplus for sale.
