Food Security Roles around the world with Australian Volunteers for International Development
Australian Volunteers International (AVI) has over 60 years’ experience sending skilled Australians to work in developing communities in Asia, the Pacific, Africa and the Middle East. AVI volunteers work in partnership with local people and organisations, and are provided with living and accommodation allowances, airfares and insurance.
AVI is now recruiting for the following food security roles
- Use your tropical agriculture experience to help ensure food security with a constant supply of virgin coconut oil and support sustainable economic development in the Republic of Marshall Islands! Tobolar Copra Processing Authority needs a Processing Technology Mentor to help it set up production units and provide training.
- Here’s an opportunity to share your academic and industry expertise in the food industry in Malawi – the warm heart of Africa! Help the Natural Resources College of Malawi provide quality training and achieve food security as a Food Science and/or Processing Lecturer.
- Join the Salvation Army’s Food Security program in Fiji as a Farm Development Mentor, with stunning beaches and volcanic islands as your backdrop! Review existing operations and recommend improvements, while also developing and conducting trainings to ensure sustainable food production practices.
- Help introduce local food processing and work towards the aim of adding value, meeting emerging markets and ensuring food security in Tanzania. As a Small Business Coach with the Small Industries Development Organisation, your knowledge of food processing and packaging can have a lasting impact.
- Build capacity of Food Security Officers in innovative project design, implementation & management in Ethiopia. As a Livelihoods and Food Security Projects Coach contribute to the sustainability of an historic NGO for vulnerable children and join a group of volunteers in fascinating Addis Abab.
