FSI team continues to support more effective design and implementation of Australia ODA programs
The Food Systems Innovation (FSI) team has spent much of the last quarter engaging with overseas projects as well as hosting a number of training events for Australia-based staff.
2015 is the final year for the Food Systems Innovation (FSI) initiative. This partnership between DFAT, AIFSRC, ACIAR and CSIRO, is continuing to support more effective design and implementation of Australia ODA programs. Activities that have taken place so far this year, continue to progress FSIs focus areas of Managing for Impact, Market and Partnership and Agriculture Linkages through technical advice, capacity building, and knowledge exchanges in Canberra and in countries such as Indonesia, Timor Leste, Nepal, Bangladesh and India. Specific activities include:
- Training on
o Monitoring and evaluation - DCED Standard in Canberra
o Innovation platform design and implementation in EPG , and
o Partnership approaches and brokering principles – training in Indonesia
- Seminars and conferences on
o Impact investing – a half day seminar in Canberra
o Innovation platforms – a presentation in Canberra on IP theory and practice using a case study from Mozambique
o Agriculture Research for Development (AR4D) – Two presentations in Senegal on ToC and Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning
- Technical advice on
o Nutrition-Sensitive Agriculture – including advice and input into the TOMACK project design in Timor Leste and DFAT Operational guidance documents for Agriculture ODA programs
o Women’s Economic Empowerment and Market Driven Approaches – including technical input into DFAT operational guidance documents for Agriculture ODA programs
o Theory of Change – including advice and guidance on project designs for African Agriculture Productivity Program in East Africa
- Knowledge exchange
o Markets for the Poor (M4P) approach – information exchange between lessons, success and challenges from implementation in Indonesia and Timor Leste
